Horse Experience

This course is offered for students in grades 1st – 5th grade at the Kings Valley Charter School. Students will come to K Ranch by school bus every other week for  approximately 45 minute sessions. They will come in small groups of about 10 kids. During this time they will learn to handle, groom, ride and care for horses. Through these activities they will gain skills in communication, team work, task completion and other life skills.

  •  Classes are now in full swing!
  • A few of our lessons so far include;
  1. Horse safety and reading a horses body language, with a chance to ride for the first time.
  2. Grooming tools; names, identification, purpose and a chance to use them on a real horse (including safety skills when being around them).
  3. Tack; identification, different styles, a chance to clean some and find the different parts. Learning to go, turn and stop while riding a horse.

 

 

Equine Skills

Equine Skills is an elective class offered to middle school thru high school students at the Kings Valley Charter School. We will explore all there is to know about horses including, riding, handling and care. Each term we will work on advancing each individual students skills in all of these areas. We will also work as a team on a training project and a facilities project each term.  This is offered Tuesday and Thursday from 2:15 to 4pm. Students will need to be picked up from K Ranch.
